Resources for Public Libraries

Introduction

This LibGuide is intended to supplement APLS' library development training goals. As such, its emphasis is on supporting specific trainings provided by the agency's library development department, whether those trainings come in the form of individual training sessions, regional meetings, admin meetings, New Director's Orientation, or other special APLS-hosted opportunities.

The guide is organized by subject area (see tabs to the left). Each tab contains books available to checkout from APLS, online resources including training materials like web videos, webinars, and presentations, and items that are on order but noy yet in APLS' collection. While the guide will initially focus on APLS' training priorities, the end goal of the Resources for Public Libraries LibGuide is to include information relevant to all public library staff in all areas at all stages of their careers.

Preference is given to recently published or newly acquired materials. Please note that our library professional development collection is extensive and contains many older editions. While these have been excluded from this guide (except in cases where the work is considered foundational, relevant regardless of age, or yet-to-be superseded), users may find them useful. We encourage you to search our catalog for items not included in this guide.

Users are encouraged to make suggestions for additions and changes by contacting the APLS library using the email button in the sidebar of this page.
